Paper Making

  • May 11, 2019
    3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Learn how to make paper out of recycled and natural materials using a mold and deckle technique.  Equipment will be provided and you will learn how to recreate the simple process at home.  I’ll also show you how to make seeded paper that can be planted, some seeds will be provided.  If you want color in the paper, start saving colorful scraps to bring along (paper streamers, construction paper, office paper etc) .  In addition to random colorful scraps, you may also want to bring bits and pieces of old paper items such as journal entries, blank checks, bills, artwork, receipts…. things that might magically represent some kind of blessing, gratitude, prayers, something you want to change, something that wants to be healed.  The art of paper making is all about transformation,  we’ll learn the basic craft together and you can choose to go as deep as you want into the magic and metaphor of it – or not 😉  Wear short sleeves and clothes/shoes that can get a little wet and grubby.
All ages welcome, kids accompanied by an adult please – we will be using blenders.
